Define the spacing layer in your rotary fixture stack with a drawing-based molded part. Send the mating plate layout and required stand-off dimension to amanda@tjswks.com for a custom POM rotary indexing fixture spacer quotation.

A Spacing Layer Within the Rotary Fixture Stack

This acetal component sits between customer-designed fixture surfaces to establish an axial separation. The illustrated layout is an annular plate with a central opening, four curved through windows and four axial fixing holes in the intervening webs. All openings run in the thickness direction, allowing the part geometry to be discussed around a straightforward mold opening direction.

The spacer belongs to the fixture assembly used on an indexing table. It does not generate indexed positions, engage a detent or transmit motion through teeth. Angular accuracy remains a requirement of the complete positioning system. The off-white images show a custom molding concept and do not represent completed tooling, validation or a production installation.

Start from the Finished Stack Height

Identify the two assembly faces whose separation matters. The required gap may accommodate a fixture plate, a central shaft shoulder or components below the working surface. Provide a section through the assembled stack and show the nominal spacer thickness together with its permitted variation. State whether one spacer is used or several parts are stacked.

Thickness variation should be considered together with the mating plates, washers and fastening arrangement. Do not assign the entire assembly tolerance to one molded part without reviewing the other contributors. If final adjustment uses separate shims, define their position and responsibility so the molded spacer has a clear dimensional role.

Decide Whether the Center Bore Locates or Clears

A central opening can provide clearance around a shaft or fit over a register on a mating plate. These are different design tasks. Mark which relationship is intended and provide the mating diameter and its tolerance. Include the required assembly clearance rather than deriving it from the nominal shaft size alone.

If the bore is used for location, define the datum scheme connecting it to the fixing-hole pattern. If it only clears another component, identify the minimum clearance throughout assembly and operation. The spacer is not offered as a shaft bearing, and the illustrated bore carries no rotational-speed or wear-life rating.

Keep Contact Areas and Open Windows Distinct

The curved windows remove material from selected regions of the annulus. They are not automatically approved access openings or load-bearing features. Overlay the intended mating surfaces on the spacer drawing to show where contact occurs. Check that the remaining webs support the actual joint arrangement rather than assuming the full circular outline carries load.

Specify whether cables, tools or other components pass through a window. A useful clearance must account for their full envelope and movement, including the space needed during installation. Window ends and web transitions should have radii suitable for molding and for the intended assembly. The final opening pattern may differ from the illustration after engineering review.

Define the Clamped Joint, Not Only the Hole Pattern

Provide bolt sizes, washer contact areas and the proposed tightening procedure. Local compression near a hole can influence the spacer's installed thickness. Show whether the spacer experiences continuous clamping, intermittent fixture changes or another service condition. Long-term dimensional behavior must be evaluated for the selected material, temperature and applied forces.

Where metal sleeves or load-spreading components are needed, include them in the assembly specification. They are not supplied by implication. No allowable bolt torque, compressive load or retained preload is stated for this generic design. These values require an application-specific joint assessment.

Agree on Flatness and Measurement Conditions

Identify the functional face regions and the locations used to measure thickness. A flatness requirement should describe the relevant surface rather than use an undefined visual judgment. Indicate whether inspection concerns the free part or the assembled condition. Fixture restraint during measurement can hide distortion, so the inspection arrangement needs to be agreed.

POM grade, wall layout, gate placement and cooling can affect the molded result. Tool feasibility review should cover shrinkage, draft in the axial openings and permissible gate or ejector marks. Mark contact faces where a raised vestige is unacceptable. Any secondary sizing or finishing operation must be expressly included in the quote; it is not assumed for every molded spacer.

Prepare the Fixture Interface for Sampling

Share the two mating components, the central register or shaft envelope, fixing pattern and desired installed height. Add service temperature, cleaning exposure, material-documentation needs and expected order quantities. Sample approval can then use defined checks for stack fit, bore relationship, face condition and fastening access.

The proposed checks describe a development plan rather than completed tests. The component has no standalone indexing-accuracy, balancing or load-capacity claim. Discuss the finished fixture's validation separately from acceptance of the molded spacing part.
